A free walking tour of Dublin which is full of life & energy but with a nice laid back tempo. The tour guides are all young local Dubliners and deliver their extensive knowledge very effectively in a fun, thought-provoking and imagination-stirring way with a personal, comfortable style. They are happy to take questions, ask questions, chat and actively get you involved in the experience. They also have very good hints and local knowledge so make sure to pick their brains for local tips. Tour group sizes are well balanced, making for easy interaction with other travellers as well as the guides themselves and a pub break along the way is a nice touch. The distance covered is easily manageable and there isn't too much walking between actual stops so the pace is relatively relaxed and the route includes lesser-known Dublin titbits as well as well-known sites such as Dublin castle and Christchurch cathedral. This free tour is an ideal way to get orientated with Dublin city centre, key locations and things which may peak your own particular interests. All in all, we highly recommend the free tour of Dublin by HostelCulture as a really worthwhile way to discover Dublin, its history, culture, stories and characters in a memorable and enjoyable way.

If you want to see more than just old buildings, and you would like to understand more about the Irish culture, then I'd suggest taking a free walking tour of Dublin. I'd like to do the folklore tour next time.

in front of the Grand Social, 35 Liffey Street Lower, on the north side of the Ha'penny Bridge
The river Liffey divides Dublin into the North and South sides. Our meeting point is on the North side, very close to the foot of the Ha'penny Bridge. Dublin is easily walkable and the Ha'penny Bridge is a well-known landmark, so you'll easily find it on a map, Google maps, or by asking someone on the street. Once at the bridge, on the north side, look for the Grand Social, 35 Liffey Street Lower. You will see our guides with light-blue T-shirts, namecards and our Generation Tours Free Tour sign right in front of the bar.
