Overview

Do you want to get to know Dublin like a local? Do you want to find out about the fascinating history along the streets of Dublin? Do you want to learn about the incredible, revolutionary spirit of ordinary Dubs, past and present? Then join my researched, independent tour of the city. Dublin is a great, diverse city with an amazing depth of history and culture – and it tells stories of rebellion, class, pride and struggle. These stories are not your usual walking tour, and are a tribute to those who truly make today's city.

This tour looks at Ireland’s revolutionaries, from roguish rebels like Lord Edward Fitzgerald to lesbian snipers of the 1916 Rising – we look at some of the more fascinating citizens of the city that shaped how we live today. This tour isn’t just about history, we also look at the culture and landmarks of Dublin, with plenty of tips and recommendations for enjoying Dublin on a budget.

This is a unique, local insight into the ordinary and extraordinary people of Dublin. The tour is a little different, is this is what you're looking for. Expect smaller groups, good conversations and different stories of revolutionary, feminist and LGBT struggle in Dublin.

On arrival

Meeting at the Lady Grattan Fountain on St. Stephen's Green North, this is at the junction of Dawson Street and the Green, next to the Luas (tram) tracks and the Little Museum of Dublin. I will have a colourful tote bag and an umbrella.

The location should be visible on Google Maps. It is 150 metres away from the main entrance of Stephen's Green, taking a left turn if approaching from the Grafton Street side.
