Historical Walking Tour: Cobh, Cork
Overview
Join me for a historical walking tour through Cobh – lively, informative, and with a touch of humor!
The town of Cobh has a lot of sights to offer. Among other things, it is known as the last port of call for the world-famous Titanic.
Along the way, you'll learn how a small fishing village became one of the most important ports in the British Empire.
Our walk begins at the harbour, where we will visit some splendid examples of British architecture – including the former clubhouse of the world's first yacht club!
Walk the old streets, where stories are told of the millions of Irish who took their final farewell from home here to build a better future abroad.
See the former ticket office of the White Star Line, where 123 passengers boarded the world famous Titanic.
The tour ends with a visit to the majestic cathedral. From here, you can enjoy an impressive view over the second-largest natural harbor in the world.
Additionally, you will learn some words and phrases from the Irish language along the way!
This activity includes:
- Old Methodist Church
- RMS Lusitania Memorial
- Kennedy Park Playground
- Sirius Arts Centre
- West View Park
- St Colman's Cathedral
- "Deck of Cards" Houses
