I highly recommend as a first step before actually visiting on your own

For a number of years, when visiting a city for the first time, we try and book a walking tour ('Free Tours' wherever possible) and always find them a great way to get one's bearings ahead of our stay. This Red Umbrella tour, with our Guide Ed, was no exception - in fact, it ranked amongst one of the best. Ed was efficient, polite, informative and entertaining. We were a mix of approx 25 people from different nations who came together but I sense everyone were equally satisfied. We thoroughly recommend this walking tour to any new visitor to Helsinki (or even return visitors) - you won't regret it!

The tour was very nice, we went to the main spots in the city and the guide Ed was the best! He explained the history of the city and country in a fun way. Highly reccomend the tour and this guide!

Our guide Paco put together an informative and entertaining tour through the center of Helsinki. He showed us the most important places, but also explained hidden gems and gave us insider tips - such as where to eat well for a reasonable price. I can highly recommend the Red Umbrella tours.

Ed’s tour included historical, cultural and social content and despite snow and cold we enjoyed the walk. He was happy to adjust walking pace to the icey conditions.
