Overview
This medina has three distinct parts. The so-called district of the consulates facing the sea, with its palaces, fondouks and Koranic schools of great mosque, marabouts and neo-Moorish mansions. The Jewish mellah narrows its streets inland, with rooftops overlooking the city, lodges and synagogues.
Tnaker is called the most popular quarter of the medina, with its markets and artisan guild streets, bazaars and Berber mosque. The people there are still very friendly to foreigners, especially when they are interested in their way of life.
The medina of Casablanca is a unique ecosystem, in full transformation in the face of the 2030 agenda that modernizes the city. It is a living museum that allows cultural immersion in time, accentuating the colors, the aromas and the biorhythms of human relations that gave birth to the incredible Casablanca of today. Its narrow streets open doors to surprising and spacious courtyards. The fishermen make a slice of it. The best buckwheat bread is baked there. At every step there is something to celebrate: wedding, rama'dan or lamb feast. The tomatoes from the street vendor really taste like tomatoes...
