HIGHLIGHTS:

ITINERARY:
At 6:00 am we drive out Cartagena to the Montes de Maria. Here we go hiking to discover the flora, the fauna, and petroglyphs left by indigenous people of this region. At 12:30 p.m. approx., we have a typical lunch in the area. At 2:00 p.m. approx., we visit the town of the region to learn about the history and culture of this region. At 3:00 p.m. approx, we leave the region.
Approximate driving time: 4 hours.
Approximate walking time: 3,5 hours.

Physicality, Travel Style & Cultural Shock:
These trips involve hiking or walking for up to three hours (4 miles approx.) a day at a slow pace on undulating terrain, with small rocks and we cross shallow streams (Attached are some pictures). The itinerary takes place in remote areas. To enjoy these adventures we suggest reasonable fitness and health, a moderately active lifestyle and have a positive attitude. Be prepared for potential variable weather conditions. (Rain: Apr-Dec)

What to Bring:
• Extra water (We provide one 1L bottle of water for the hike)
• Sunscreen (No sweet smell) and a cap
• Insect repellent
• A day pack for you to carry your personal items
• Closed-toe shoes and long pants are recommended because our hike is in the forest, there are mud, streams, and rocks on our path. Sandals (Flip Flops) work very well after the hiking trail
• A bag for the wet and dirty shoes
• A light rain jacket or an umbrella in case there is rain in the forecast and you don’t want to get wet
• An extra change of clothes in case if it’s needed
• Cash for purchasing souvenirs, cash for tips is optional but not necessary.
