Khami Ruins is the second-largest archaeological stone monument in Zimbabwe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site founded 16th – 17th Century showing the strength of the Butwa Kingdom, after the demise of Great Zimbabwe.
See the fascinating rock platforms built by the Torwa people without mortar; these were built to display power, and not for protection. Unlike the free-standing walls of Great Zimbabwe, Khami is characterized by terraced stone platforms.
Visit the King’s Residence, where kings lived in big stone areas, while regular people had simple huts. Explore the Sacred Ground, a special place for old rituals, and the Passage Platform, where young girls learned about life and marriage.
