Overview

Walk San Telmo with an English teacher and know the oldest and most fantastic neighborhood in BA.

We'll meet at Adolfo Alsina 400 (double-check apart from the app's map) at Basilica San Francisco de Asis, and we will also see the iconic Farmacia la Estrella, the oldest pharmacy in BA, then head to Convento Santo Domingo, where the English invasions occurred. We´ll see icons of Argentinean culture, such as “Mafalda” and the smallest house in Buenos Aires. The iconic tango bar "El Viejo Almacen" and talk about the history and legends of tango since it's here where this wonderful dance was born.  The mystique of tango lives in San Telmo. If you haven't decided which tango show to see, I can provide you with different options.

Next stop is the museum of tunnels and the famous San Telmo Market, where we'll try the tasty dulce de leche. Then, we'll see San Pedro Telmo Church. In Dorrego Square, we'll see handicrafts and maybe see street tango dancers. Then at "Casa Ezeiza," the famous "casa chorizo" expression of the XX century European immigration, we'll imagine the first tangos danced here, and we'll say goodbye at the door of the incredible National Historical Museum.

Meeting point

Corner of Avenida Belgrano and calle Defensa

On arrival

We'll meet at the corner of Avenida Belgrano and calle Defensa. That is the location of Santo Domingo Church and Convent. If you are five to 10 minutes late, you will be able to find us near the church, or else walk Balcarce Street (which is parallel to Defensa Street) heading to the following destination, which is the Mafalda statue. I will be standing at the corner with a yellow umbrella and a freetour badge.
