Buenos Aires: The Hidden Codes of the Plaza de Mayo
Overview
This is a historical walking tour in which you will be able to tie together clues that are in the same square, but that almost no one sees. The tour includes the context of the birth of the city, the British invasions and the conflicts between European crowns. You will explore the relationship of love, hate and admiration with the English, the desire for progress, the memories of the people and the struggles against power (and for power). You will analyze self-interested hypocrisies until you reach a generation that dreamed of a great Argentina and that marked the pride of our people.
This activity includes:
- Casa Rosada
- Monument of General Manuel Belgrano
- Museo Histórico Nacional del Cabildo y la Revolución de Mayo
- Subte A - PLAZA DE MAYO
- Pirámide de Mayo
- Catedral Metropolitana de Buenos Aires
- Guía en el idioma seleccionado
- Grupo reducido
- Ingreso a Catedral (si estuviera abierta y habilitada)
Our Guides
On arrival
We'll meet in the center of Plaza de Mayo, right at the base of the Pirámide de Mayo (the white obelisk surrounded by a railing, located at the geographical center of the plaza). It's the most iconic and easiest spot to find. You’ll recognize me easily because I’ll be wearing an orange beret. I’ll also be carrying a blue backpack with orange accents and wearing sunglasses. I’ll be standing next to the base of the Pyramid, waiting for the group.
Things to note
All the historic sites are visited on foot from the outside, with the exception of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires, which we will tour inside during our morning visit (if it is open and access is permitted).
At the end of the tour, you’ll be able to visit both the Casa Rosada Museum and the Historic Cabildo on your own, subject to their respective hours and admission policies. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and paying close attention to messages on the platform after confirming your reservation, as we’ll use that channel to coordinate final details and share helpful tips for our tour.
This is an outdoor tour that takes place even in light rain. In case of heavy rain, we’ll reschedule or cancel depending on the forecast. Please make sure the phone number on your reservation is correct, as we’ll contact you via WhatsApp to send you the exact location of the meeting point. If you booked for the same day or at the last minute, please watch for our message to confirm your attendance and avoid delays.
It’s cold out right now. Consider wearing winter clothes and layering. To avoid waiting in the cold outdoors, the guide will arrive right on time. The maximum wait time is 5 minutes before we mark you as a “No Show.” The tour departs on time. Please keep this in mind because, in many cases, this tour is scheduled exclusively for your reservation. It is not designed for large groups.
Cancellation policy
You are free to cancel a booking anytime. We kindly remind you to cancel bookings you cannot arrive for. Being reported as absent decreases your customer level points and the benefits you can enjoy.
