Overview
Starting at the Café de Paris on Place Bellevue, we begin with a panoramic view over the Grand Plage and Biarritz’s elegant seafront. From this balcony above the ocean, you hear how a small whaling village became an imperial resort and surf town, while we point out landmarks like the Hôtel du Palais and the surrounding Belle Époque architecture.
We then follow the promenade left towards the Port des Pêcheurs, the charming 19th‑century fishermen’s port tucked between the cliffs with its traditional cabins and small boats. From there, the walk continues along the coast to the Rocher de la Vierge for some of the best views of the bay and, on clear days, the Pyrenees, before curving around to Port Vieux and the dramatic Villa Belza perched above the waves.
Finally, we head back up into the lively town centre, finishing among cafés, food shops and boutiques. Here you can get tips on where to taste Basque specialties, enjoy a drink or continue exploring Biarritz on your own. On arrival
The tour starts in front of the Café de Paris on Place Bellevue, overlooking the Grand Plage in central Biarritz, we will meet next to the large abstract metal sculture in front of the Cafe. It’s an easy 5‑minute walk from the Biarritz Tourist Office and a short walk from most hotels in the town centre. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can start on time.
Things to note
Additional places to visit upon request are the Russian Orthodox Church and Les Halles depending on opening hours. Languages spoken: English and Russian.
