Historical City Guide Free Tour
Overview
I am a local history enthusiast who is passionate about sharing the fascinating story of my hometown. This free walking tour is designed for travelers who want to go beyond sightseeing and truly understand the history, culture, and traditions that have shaped Berat over the centuries.
During our tour, we will visit three of Berat's most important historic Ottoman mosques, where you will learn about their architecture, historical significance, and the role they played in the city's religious and social life. We will then explore the picturesque Gorica Quarter, famous for its traditional stone houses, narrow streets, and breathtaking views across the Osum River. Finally, we will walk through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Berat Castle, one of the few castles in the Balkans where people still live today. Inside its ancient walls, I will explain the castle's history from the Byzantine and Ottoman periods to the present day, while introducing you to its churches, historic neighborhoods, and unique cultural heritage.
