Things to note
The Golden Temple welcomes all visitors, regardless of religion, caste, gender, or background. However, certain rules must be strictly followed, as temple guards actively ensure proper conduct within the premises.
1. Remove your footwear before entering the temple complex.
2. Wash your feet in the small pool of water provided at the entrance.
3. Keep your head covered at all times; scarves are available at the gurudwara for those who do not have one.
4. Dress modestly and respectfully. Shorts, socks, and caps are not permitted inside the temple. Upper garments must cover the shoulders and at least part of the arms, such as with half sleeves.
5. Do not carry or consume alcohol, drugs, meat, or tobacco products in or around the shrine.
