Overview
Walk 400 years of Accra in 2km. Start at Jamestown Lighthouse, built 1871 by the British, still guiding fishermen home. Hear Ga history where colonial stone meets Atlantic waves.
Enter Salaga Market, Accra’s oldest trading ground and former slave market from the 1800s. Today it sells herbs, fabrics, and spiritual items — pain turned into commerce.
Cross into Rawlings Park, the chaotic heart of Makola named after J.J. Rawlings. This is not a park but Accra’s pulse: trotro horns, traders, revolution turned retail.
Push through Kantamanto Market, West Africa’s largest secondhand clothing hub — where global fast fashion finds new life. 30,000 traders rebuild waste into style daily.
End at the abandoned Accra Railways Station, 1923. Colonial tracks that moved cocoa and gold now sit silent near Korle Lagoon.
From slave market to railways, lighthouse to thrift city — this is Accra unfiltered. No museums. No filters. Just raw history, hustle, and humanity. Led by a local, not a script. For travelers who want truth over comfort.

On arrival
When you arrive at James Town Lighthouse across the street there is a palace. Beside the palace there is a spot called The Palace Spot painted with green colours of club beer. I will be there wearing a blue cap with a bold letter M written on it.
Things to note
Ask before photos, elders, market women, shrine keepers need to greeted, smile with kids, and say how are you.
