Tetouan: A Journey Through History & Culture with Youness
Overview of the tour in Tetuan
During our tour of the Medina of Tetouan, we'll explore a fascinating array of sights and experiences. Our journey begins in the Spanish neighborhood, known for its stunning Spanish Andalusian architecture. As we continue, we'll come across the picturesque Feddan Square.
Following this, we'll venture into the Jewish neighborhood, the mellah, and take a delightful 15-minute break to savor the exquisite white cow cheese and dried fruits and sip on hot mint tea, all while enjoying the backdrop of the royal palace.
Our next destination will lead us to the ancient Medina, enclosed by protective walls constructed in the early 16th century, featuring seven grand gates. As we stroll through this historical area, we'll also visit Souk Elhout, where local countryside women display their handmade goods.
Here, you'll have the chance to experience a taste of countryside life. We'll have a glimpse of the Qasabah from the exterior, initially built in 1286 and later reconstructed by Sidi Mindri in the 15th century.
