Revolutionary Tbilisi Walking Tour
Overview of the tour in Tbilisi
Revolutionary Tbilisi is a unique tour only offered by us to explore the incredible period before the Soviet Union, where days seemed like years because there was so much going on in little Tbilisi. Bandits, revolutionaries, Cossacks, workers, Russian officials and soldiers, Armenian shopkeepers, and Georgian nobles all battled for power in Tiflis (the old name for Tbilisi). It was a time of upheaval, terrorism, hope, strikes, and great heroes!
Little is known outside of Georgia about the most successful social democracy in the Russian Empire. While most have heard about the Russian Revolution, the revolution that occurred in Georgia was exemplary for the involvement of peasants, workers, and Georgian intellectuals in forging a different path forward from the Russian Revolution. Even less is known about the adventures, histories, and bold actions committed by Georgian Bolsheviks. The tour highlights major events concerning two factions of the Russian Social Democratic Workers Party.
We'll take a tour through the city and unlock the memories hiding in buildings and parks from the revolutionary period from 1900-1921.
