St Andrews Golf Oriented History Tour - Town & Old Course
Overview of the tour in St Andrews
From the Old Course to the Cathedral ruins, these tours explore St Andrews with the golfer in mind.
The Old Course and the Cathedral are at opposite ends of town, so we first head to the Cathedral, where 124 noted golfers a buried. En route, you will visit the oldest quarter of the oldest university in Scotland. Here you will see the building where the Gutta Percha ball was invented in 1848 that would transform the game, hear about Prince William and Kate and see the beautiful chapel of St Salvators.
In the Cathedral, alongside its remarkable history, Richard showcases three noted golfing graves which he then explores in more depth as the walk progresses towards the Links courses.
You will see the former Bishop's Palace and university departments, and then at the Old Course you will hear about many facets of the Home of Golf: From course development to the surrounding iconic buildings and some noted championship moments.
Your tour then finishes with the Swilkan Bridge and a photo shoot on the most iconic feature in the game of golf.
There is a cross-over of information between this tour and Richard's Old Course tour but they do complement each other.
