Free Tour of Santiago Cathedral and Cathedral Museum
Overview of the tour in Santiago de Compostela
The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is an impressive example of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. It is believed to have been built in the 9th century, although it has undergone several renovations and expansions over the centuries. The original construction was ordered by King Alfonso II of Asturias and was dedicated to St. James the Apostle.
One of the most outstanding features of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is its famous Door of Glory, which is a masterpiece of Romanesque sculpture.
