Overview
On this free tour of Playa del Carmen, we’ll explore the city’s most representative places, uncovering its history, culture, and traditions.
We’ll begin on 5th Avenue, the center of local life, before visiting Fundadores Square, home to the Mayan Portal, a symbol of this ancient civilization’s heritage.
Then we’ll stop at Ah Cacao, where you’ll learn about the importance of cacao in Mexico while tasting this traditional drink. Next, we’ll see the façade of the Posada Sian Ka’an Hotel and learn the story of La Tarraya, the very first beachfront bar. We’ll also visit the Frida Kahlo Riviera Maya Museum, with its colorful, interactive exhibits, before heading to 8th Street North, the heart of the city’s nightlife.
The tour will finish at the Government Palace, where murals depict the history and identity of Playa del Carmen.
