Overview

Welcome to Montélimar! I invite you on an immersive walking tour through the heart of our historic center. This is a journey where grand medieval history meets the legendary Nationale 7 holiday route!

What we’ll experience together:
- The Castle of the Adhémars & Panoramic Views: We will walk up the rocky hill to admire this rare 12th-century Romanesque fortress. The reward? A breathtaking 360° view over the terracotta rooftops, the Rhône Valley, and the distant mountains of Ardèche.
- The Saga of the Nougat & Route Nationale 7: Discover how massive summer traffic jams in the 1950s turned a local honey-and-almond confection into a world-famous sweet icon. A truly fascinating (and delicious) piece of French history!
- Hidden Gems of the Old Town: We will pass through the imposing Saint-Martin Gate to decode gorgeous Renaissance facades, including the mysterious House of Diane de Poitiers.
- The Provençal Way of Life: From the historic Sainte-Croix Collegiate Church to the lively terraces of the Allées Provençales

Don’t just pass through the Drôme region—come and truly experience it!

How to get to the meeting point (Montélimar Train Station)
Meeting Point: Right outside the main entrance of the Montélimar Train Station (Gare de Montélimar), located on Rue Olivier de Serres.

By Train (The easiest way): The station is perfectly connected via regional TER trains. It is only a 15-to-20-minute ride from Valence or Livron, and about 45 minutes from Avignon. The tour literally starts the moment you step off the platform!

???? By Car: You can easily reach Montélimar via the historic Route Nationale 7 (N7) or the A7 highway (Exit 17 "Montélimar Nord" or Exit 18 "Montélimar Sud").

Where to park? There is a dedicated parking lot right at the station (Parking de la Gare). Alternatively, you can look for free or blue-zone street parking spaces along the nearby Allées Provençales.

By Bike: If you are cycling along the famous ViaRhôna route, the train station offers bike racks and is located just a few minutes away from the main bike paths.
