Our story concludes at the end of the 17th century, when, after fire, plague, and revolution, the City of London establishes its ancient rights and privileges in perpetuity. The dragons became its new coat of arms, and the phoenix marked its rebirth from the ashes — a renewal that laid the foundations of a global empire built on trade and finance.
