Overview
We are Official Guides of Catalunya and we live in this amazing little village of Besalú. We will let you discover the secrets of the Jewish community and the Miqvé, one of the oldest Jewish baths in the world. History, secrets and legends are waiting for you in Besalú.
If you come on Tuesday, you can buy fresh local products at the weekly market. We start the tour crossing the beautiful 12th century bridge while we have an incredible panoramic view of Besalú and travel back in time. On the other side of the bridge, the narrow streets, medieval squares and old stone houses take us back to other times when the town was one of the most important in Catalonia.
We will enter the Jewish quarter, and there we will be welcomed with open arms by the jewel of Besalú: the Miqvé, the best preserved Jewish ritual bath in the world. From the synagogue square we will have a unique panoramic view of the Romanesque bridge. We continue to the old church of the monastery of Sant Pere, consecrated more than 1000 years ago, the Romanesque pilgrims' hospital Sant Julià and the mezuzah, which is preserved in one of the medieval buildings.
