Overview

We walk in Plaka and surrounding streets, visiting beautiful Byzantine churches of the 11th century. We stop to see modern buildings that were built in neo-byzantine style. Learn about architecture, masonry, and Byzantine Symbols. Sketch Byzantine Athens' town planning. We speak about eminent visitors to Byzantine Athens and eccentric incidents from their lives. We learn about important events of the Byzantine times. Optionally, we visit the Metropolis Heirloom Room to see Byzantine items used in Orthodox Churches. The ticket to the heirloom Room costs 3 euros. You may have on your cash for candles and snacks. We will take the metro. Tickets are not included in the price.
