You need to wake up a little early and order a breakfast box from your hotel. Meet your guide at your hotel reception to begin your trip to Abu Simbel.

Abu Simbel Temples:
Ramses II known as Ramses the Great ruled Egypt for about 67 years (1279-1213 BC), he built these two temples at Abu Simbel. Abu Simbel, was at the southern frontier of pharaonic Egypt, facing Nubia. He built his queen’s temple first, then his great temple.

The Great Temple is dedicated to Amun, Re-Horakhty, Ptah, and Ramses II as a god, while the smaller temple is dedicated to Goddess Hathor and Nefertari as a goddess.

The four colossal statues of Ramses in front of the great temple are spectacular examples of ancient Egyptian art. Usually, in a few cases, the statue of the queen is displayed at the same height as the statue of the pharaoh as is seen on the facade of the Temple of Nefertari.

Many scholars speak of the sun miracle of the Great Temple. On the 22nd of February and the 22nd of October the rays of the sunshine down into the sanctuary and light up the statues on the wall except for the statue of Ptah.

Things to note

It is highly recommended to begin this tour as early as you can, so you can begin at 4 AM because it takes about 3.5 hours to drive to Abu Simbel. If you are willing to begin in the early morning, don't forget to request a breakfast box from your hotel.
