Santa Cruz is undoubtedly the most charming neighborhood of Seville. Its narrow and labyrinthine streets transport you to the time when the old Jewish quarter of Seville was formed.

It was donated by Alfonso X the Wise for the Jews to live in community and so they did until the problems began, with persecutions and great massacres such as the one in 1391 originated by the Archdeacon of Ecija, Ferran Martin.

After this, some Jews returned to repopulate it until their definitive expulsion in 1492 by the Catholic Monarchs under pressure from the lower Christian classes.

Every corner of this neighborhood has a story waiting to be told and relived. It is certainly a tour that will not disappoint you. If you want to know more stories and legends like the Susona, the Jewess who betrayed her family for love, or the Devil's Grille, which no one knows how it could have been built.
