Overview of the tour in Lisbon

The Original Lisbon Free has been created to the travelers that want to meet our city and feel the real Lisbon.
As we believe in giving you the best possible experience, we’ll give you the most complete Lisbon free tour. We cover the entire historical center: Bairro Alto, Chiado, Baixa, Alfama e Graça, skipping the main touristic attractions, leading you to explore the real Lisbon in a proud local perspective.
In our tour we do not talk only about history; we also cover topics like culture, traditions, lifestyle, fun facts, and other tips and tricks that will help you during your stay in Lisbon.
Throughout the tour we approach several subjects of Portuguese history such as Age of Discoveries, Jewish and Moorish heritage, religion in Portugal, Inquisition, Portuguese Dictatorship, Colonial War, Carnation Revolution (25 de Abril), the Lisbon Earthquake, and others.
We will also tell you how past history and current context reflects on our personal stories.
If you have any special interest, please tell your guide before the tour starts. Our guides always try to adjust their route, having in mind the special interests of their groups.

On arrival

Recognize our guides:
The Original Free Tour guides will be standing at the square, in front of the statue, wearing a yellow and silver upcycled bag with a tram logo.

There are several companies starting their tours at our meeting point, so it is important that you identify our local guides correctly, so you can join the tour you’ve booked.

Please check in with your guide 10-15 minutes before the tour starts.

How to get to the meeting point:
- Metro: head to the metro stop “ Baixa-Chiado” (direct from blue and green metro lines) and take the exit to Rua do Alecrim, in the Chiado direction.
- Tram: Catch the famous 28 tram, and it will leave you right at the square.
- Bus: the closest bus to the meeting point is the 758.

If you are walking or driving, just follow the directions to PraçaLuís de Camões, on Google Maps or similar.
If you need, there is a parking lot right under our meeting point.
Keep in mind that the tour won’t end at the starting point.

Things to note

We will walk a lot, up and down the hills, so please be prepared to walk, bring comfortable shoes, water and a snack.
Also please pay attention to the meteorology and dress according to the weather.

Bigger groups with separate reservations will not be accepted on the tours.
