Overview of the tour in Lake District

Kendal, known as 'The Gateway to the Lakes' and to locals as the 'Auld Grey Town' (due to being mostly built of traditional limestone), was named the 'Happiest Place to Live' in the North West in 2023 (Rightmove). I live & work in Kendal, and I love it!

This fell walk includes:
- Castle Howe (Kendal's first Norman castle) & views across to Kendal Castle (the second)
- Kendal Green & the old Beast Banks post office (the inspiration for Mrs Goggin's Post Office in Postman Pat)
- Serpentine Woods
- Kendal Fell & Golf Club, offering spectacular views of the town and Lake District fells & mountains

I'll share with you everything l have learned and love about Kendal & its surrounding countryside, including my favorite:
- Walks in the town & beyond
- Places to visit, eat & drink
- Events & festivals

My dad is a dairy & sheep farmer in South Lakeland, so I'll also share my experiences of town & country life and how farming has shaped our landscape.

If you are interested in Kendal walks but unavailable at this time, I may be able to offer something bespoke. Please get in touch to discuss this.

This activity includes:

  • Brewery Arts
  • Serpentine Woods
  • Kendal Golf Club

Meeting point

Brewery Arts Centre

On arrival

We'll be meeting outside the Brewery Arts Centre in Highgate.

Things to note

This walk is about 4.2km, through woodland & over fells, on paths which could be muddy & slippy when wet, and as such walking boots, wellies or trainers (that you don't mind getting dirty) are recommended. To gain the best views, there will be some uphill walking, with the total ascent being about 164m. The Cumbrian weather can also be unpredictable, so the blue sky views aren't guaranteed, but an adventure is! :-)

Free Cancellation

You are free to cancel a booking anytime. We kindly remind you to cancel bookings you cannot arrive for. Being reported as absent decreases your customer level points and the benefits you can enjoy.
