Resumen
We begin at Ekōin Temple, where sumo was first performed during the Edo period as a spiritual ritual for peace and charity. From there, we’ll explore the quiet streets of the sumo stables, where wrestlers still live and train, and learn about the hierarchy, lifestyle, and philosophy behind Japan’s most traditional sport.
At the serene Yasuda Garden, we’ll slow down to appreciate the balance between power and harmony that defines Japanese culture. Then, we’ll visit Yokoamicho Park, a memorial site dedicated to the victims of the Great Kantō Earthquake and WWII, a moving symbol of Japan’s resilience and ability to rise again.
We’ll continue to the Ryōgoku Kokugikan Stadium and its Sumo Museum, uncovering the rituals and legends of the ring, before finishing at the Edo Noren complex, where a full-sized sumo ring and local restaurants await.
