17 pics to make you want to visit Tel Aviv immediately!

Beaches, colour, culture, creativity, vibrancy, revelry and beauty are all things that make up Tel Aviv. This cosmopolitan and fun-filled city on the Israeli Mediterranean coast is a beautiful blend of ancient ruins, 1930’s Bauhaus architecture and cutting-edge modern design; a backdrop to exciting culture, atmospheric nightlife, chic cafes, indie galleries, unique style and home to hip locals who embrace a laid-back way of life.

Here are seventeen pictures from Tel Aviv that will make you want to visit immediately!

Tel Aviv beaches and coasts with Mediterranean waters

If you're a beach lover, Tel Aviv will make your heart flutter. Golden sand, bronzed bods, and deep-blue Mediterranean waters grace the length of western Tel Aviv.

Such is the amount of beautiful coast, there are a variety of beaches In Tel Aviv, each offering something different; for example, there are a couple of dog beaches where our four-legged furry friends can run and play freely, there's Jaffa beach - preferred by surfers due to the lack of wave breakers, there are family-friendly beaches with shallow waters and active lifeguard patrols, there's Gay beach - where everyone is welcome and has a really fun and lively atmosphere embraced by the gay community, and there's even a drum beach - a relaxing and tranquil beach six days of the week which is woken by the sound of numerous local drummers on Friday evenings!

Of course, one of the best things about Tel Aviv is the beach-front promenade. Wide pedestrian paths lined with palm trees and waterfront restaurants, cafes and bars, it's a real joy to stroll along or sit and people-watch from in the sun or with a drink come evening.

Best places to see and visit in Tel Aviv

Jaffa, or Old Jaffa, or Yafo, is one of the must-see places in Tel Aviv. An ancient port from which the Tel Aviv we know and love today grew, it is full of narrow streets and passageways, incredible old buildings, and a vibrant atmosphere complemented by cafes, museums and galleries.

Famous for it's association with the mythological Andromeda and Perseus, as well as biblical stories such as those of  Solomon, Jonah and the Whale, and St. Peter, Jaffa is home to some must-see sights when in Tel Aviv -  galleries, historic houses, churches and mosques, the Shuk Hapishpishim Flea Market, and hidden gems await down every winding sand-coloured alley here.

Tel Aviv walking tours

We highly recommend joining a free walking tour of Jaffa to really get to grips with the vast history and culture of the district. Joining a local city tour guide is without doubt the best way to get unbeatable insight to Tel Aviv and life lived here, and there are also excellent free tours of Tel Aviv city centre, including in 'the white city' which is dominated by clusters of fascinating Bauhaus buildings, like this curvaceous beauty in Dizengoff Square...

Israel’s second city may be relatively unsung compared to other, traditionally more popular, tourist destinations for a short trip, weekend break, or vacation; but to accept that as justified is to greatly underestimate its appeal. With so much to offer, intriguing neighbourhoods, vast history, incredible must-see sights, wonderful places to visit, friendly locals, easy-going pace and open-minded attitude, unique character and absolute fun, you could do a lot worse than travel to Tel Aviv on your next trip.
