Overview
At the scheduled time, we will meet at the entrance to the archaeological complex of the Ancient Agora of Athens, better known as the Ancient Agora.
We will begin our tour of the site by observing the remains of the Odeon of Agrippa, the Lycaeus, and the Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best-preserved in Greece. Did you know that it is the only one that retains most of its original roof?
We will also see the ancient Parliament, where the city's military leaders met, and the Heliaea, the tribunal where the philosopher Socrates was condemned to death. We will continue past the Byzantine Church of the Holy Apostles and Panathenaic Street, which was the central avenue of ancient Athens.
We will round off the tour with a visit to the Agora Museum, located within the Stoa of Attalus, an impressive two-level Hellenistic portico. This exhibition explores Athenian history from the 9th century BC to the 4th century AD. We'll explore the major milestones that shaped the city, as well as learn about mythology and political structures.
After visiting the museum, the tour will conclude after two hours.
